DIY Play Tents!
Posted on March 18, 2012
One thing I obsessed over as a child was sleeping in tiny little homes within our home… like hiding behind book cases, couch-cushion-igloos and table-cloth-over-table-huts. I even had a dresser with a drawer that fell apart, leaving a bit of extra space within it where I slept. Yes, a DRESSER.
I love the idea of encouraging that sense of (quirky) creativity with children, and so did these geniuses! Here are some awesome tutorials for making DIY play tents. They are so awesome, I am considering making myself one. I mean, for Lucien… right.

This brings back happy childhood memories. We had millions of blachets and pillows to play around with and also a large old TV cabinet when I could hide in. I loved it! xo
These would be so great for my nephews ! ^^ I better save these ideas and maybe even make one for Birthday of the other one :) So lovely post !

So cute! I love the idea as well. And I also loved cubby houses as a kid. My Dad made me one for my second birthday. At the moment, my toddler loves her cardboard box barn that her architect Daddy made for her, and she got to paint it! So simple, inexpensive, special and lots of fun.
I love, love, love these and would totally make one for Jen and I! We both LOVE small sleeping spots… I loved curling up in a small, cozy chair – hiding under a cloth covered table – and especially, curling up in a closet. I like dark spots!!! When we moved into our apartment, our room felt way too big so we slept in the walk-in closet. :P LOVED IT!!!
What fun! When I get a place of my own, I’ve always wanted to have a room that is dedicated to tents. It would be the perfect reading nook :)

Oh what fun! I used to do the same thing when I was little, as well as sleeping or just hiding in perhaps obscure places, such as a bookshelf. It’s amazing what we can fit into when we’re little. It always felt safe in those home’s within a home.
hahaha i love how we use our children as excuses to get/make stuff for. i approve!
I loved doing this as a chid too! There was nothing so thrilling as building a fort of blankets to sleep under for the night. And I must say, my excitement hasn’t drained in the least when it comes to fort-building. You’re not alone! ;>
Yep, I’m going to get my husband to make me one this week for the nursery! Too cute!!! LOVE! Thanks for sharing!
XOXO, Lidy
