Mismatched Moments

I have been trying to do a better job at catching those moments you forget in life. You know, like a bowl of delicious oatmeal that brings you back to childhood, or moments when the kids do something that make you “awe” and “oooh”, but don’t seem significant enough to photograph (even though it really is). These are some moments I’ve captured recently. I’d like to make a regular feature sharing these moments with all of you too… for now I’ll call them “mismatched moments” until I can think of something better.

  1. Tomatoes from our garden. These things have completely taken over our backyard! We use them in almost every meal, and have even dried a ton… and yet some have still gone to waste.
  2. Lucien and his schoolwork. He’s been doing so well in his studies, I’m really pleased with this curriculum.  It’s called K-12, and is free. The writing and math is a little behind his level though, so we make up our own worksheets for those subjects.
  3. Lucien’s first black eye. The munchkins were playing around my work table and he bumped into the corner of it. When he was wearing his taekwondo uniform, people thought he got it in a sparing match.
  4. Oatmeal. Brings me back… although I’ve been adding fruit to it these days like a big girl.
  5. Lucien and Ayla with their buddy Ada. We watch her during the day while her parents are busy in school. She’s a sweetheart, and the kids love her.
  6. Ayla napping. I have so many pictures of her sleeping… but it never gets old.
  7. Flowers, coffee and a french press. I’ve been feeling pretty down lately (not enough sleep/overwhelmed by work, so the boys surprised me with this. Making a good cup of coffee is kinda my “thing” right now… I will treasure this memory forever.
