Mini Garden
Posted on May 23, 2012
We bought some fruit and vegetable starts to plant in our new mini garden! I am excited to always have some veggies on hand, like cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and green beans. We’ll eventually be getting some other yummies to add to the bunch as well… but for now the biggest accomplishment was just being together… feeling the warm sun, finding bugs and trying to keep Ayla from eating the grass.

Aya, this is amazing!! How fun that you’re planting a little vegy, fruit & herb garden! We have a community plot where we live, and absolutely love it! Happy planting + you look adorable! xo
Awe, thank you so much!!!! A community garden?!! That actually sounds REALLY fun, hehe :D
Love ya, girl!
Aya
Oooo yummy, strawberries!! The little garden looks
wonderful– your family will be so healthy!!:D Beautiful and
sweet set of photos(pun intended) Looks like a lot of fun–
wish I could have been there!!<3
It would have been a pleasure to have you there, of course! It really was a fun time, boy I love summer! :D
Love,
Aya
How do you keep the bugs from getting to the fruit before you do? I remember planting strawberries a while back, but I never got to eat the fruits of my labour and the caterpillars ate them all :(
How fun! I have fond memories of watching (and sometimes helping ;) my dad when I was little with a garden he tended for a time. Fresh tomatoes are the best; I still dream of the day I have the room to grow my own! For right now, my garden is pretty limited (both due to space and a puppy who likes to get into everything) to just a few pots of herbs. :)
Ohh I’m so jealous Aya :) We live at the 7th floor so no garden at all! However, Alf is planting ANYTHING on the balcony, started with herbs and now wants a fig tree.. O_O
Anyways, those are the best days spent with your family, out in the grass and under the sunshine. And by the way, I love how you tied your scarf.
Hope you’ll be able to enjoy your new strawberries soon!

I love strawberries! I’ve never tried to grow them myself, but my sister started a patch in her backyard and they are growing so big! (Shhhh, don’t tell, but I ate all the ripe ones she had last time I visited her house. They were so good that I just couldn’t stop.)
Nothing compares to fresh produce you can pick from your yard. :)
how exciting for the kiddos to see how things grow! i remember a few years back when we grew our own tomatoes using milk cartons to start with. my little ones were so excited when we first saw shoots!
i love your gardening outfit. so cute!

I love this! We have HUGE Halloween jack-o-lantern pumpkins planted, along with sunflowers, sage, lavender, rosemary, thyme (I think), cinnamon basil… I think that’s all, but there may be more! We’ve been so busy planting!
Also, that earth worm! Oh my gosh!
Your pictures are so gorgeous! That earthworm is so big! Good luck with your garden. What a fun activity.
I love your rings! Good luck with the strawberries!
Yikes, that worm… :s

“…and trying to keep Ayla from eating the grass.”
I completely lost myself at that line! Hahahahah that is too cute.
Congrats on your little garden. I am a little jealous, I would love to have cucumbers and beans at the ready. I will have to settle for my tiny strawberry plant and the farmers market instead.
GARDEEEEN! Yay! This is going to be so fun for you guys, I’m sure it’s so awesome for little kids to help things grow.

HOW do you look like a movie star even when you’re gardening!? It’s heinous how pretty you are. :)
Little strawberries! I wish I had somewhere to plant a garden. Maybe someday! I love these summery pictures.
