Finally, the second edition of Bonjour Blogger! If you’re not accustom to me falling behind on projects and posts, start now! Anywho, meet the  the ever-so-lovely Veronika of Girl and Closet! Veronica is as sweet as pie, with her charming smile, gorgeous long locks and darling style… so you can imagine why she became my target as soon as I discovered her several months ago. She sweetly agreed to answer my comical Qs and As, and I think her answers tickled me about as much as asking the questions themselves…

1. Tell us about your first crush…

My first crush was the moment I discovered my dad’s film camera. I was instantly hooked and I loved, loved taking photos. I started taking pictures when I was about five. Now I have all these photos of my parents and little life moments, which were all taken by me when I was just a wee thing. It’s the sweetest!!

2. What poses do you find to be most flattering when taking outfit photos?

I generally strive to flow through my poses so they are a little more candid & natural. I’ve definitely found that to be super flattering. I also favor standing slightly turned to the camera, rather than dead on. Lastly, I’ve learned that each outfit requires different poses in order for it to stand out… so I usually try a few poses in front of my mirror prior to heading out. I’m very dorky that way. ;)

3. You have AMAZING hair. Any hair-care tips for those of us less fortunate?

Aw, thank you! I hear that so much on my blog, and I had no idea that my hair was so amazing – isn’t that funny?! I definitely have hair frustrations just like any other gal. ;) As for tips? I love using my NP Ceramic Flat iron… that’s what gives my hair that shiny appearance. As for products?! I don’t really use any, but I have tried Moroccan Oil and thought it was the most amazing thing on the planet!! So, I should probably get in the habit of using that.

4. What is your biggest biggest go-to piece from your wardrobe?

My black vintage bowler hat! Oh boy, I can’t stay away from it. I absolutely love to wear it – it seems to complete any outfit.

5. What past trend do you find the most appalling and which do you wish would have stayed around?

Honestly, I believe that anything goes when done right & styled well. As for trends sticking around? If I like it, I wear it… regardless of it still being in style or not. I’ve never been one to pay too much attention to trends. I definitely strive to wear what I love.

6. Define “Fashion.”

Being courageous & comfortable enough with yourself, to wear what you truly want!

7. Lastly, chocolate or vanilla?

Haha, pickles! I’m a totally savoury kind of gal!!

I used to always hand-make my valentine’s cards for the other students in school, as a small girl… Usually at the last minute too, the night just before and would’nt get enough sleep to make it through class. So I kept with tradition and made this for you guys (yes, last minute as well). Will you gals be my valentine?

This is my Valentine-sy outfit… tons of pink and a heart-beaded purse. Funny, I absolutely hated pink as a young girl, but now adore it! It makes me think of love and strawberries. Yes, I will be one of those old ladies with a kitchen-theme… strawberries everywhere.

This is one of my all-time favorite dresses… but it is very delicate, so I worry when wearing it while holding and playing with the munchkins. When I came downstairs with it on, my son said to me “Mama, you look prettttty! Dada look, Mama looks like a princess!” Ah, nothing beats compliments like those, coming from your baby.

My favorite thing to do every year for Valentine’s Day is to doll up and make my hair all fancy. Here is some light hair inspiration if you are stumped on the big day of impressing your sweetheart. If you notice, it really doesn’t matter if your hair is long or short, down or up – but it’s best to give it some body and wave. It sort of has a dreamy, angelic feel or *ahem*, bedroom vibe.. so don’t make your hair too tight or perfect, or use too much hairspray so it will stay soft and bouncy. Oh, and I’m also a big fan of adding a hair accessory, such as an over-sized flower… BAM, instant fanciness!

…I don’t think we have any super-duper exciting plans for Valentine’s this year, as we had a YAY – happy surprise! Our van broke down. (sniffle) I’m sure we’ll get some coffee though, or a modest dinner… and if I could, I would totally wear any one of these outfits. I’m not so great at what’s day or night appropriate, but then again… I’ve always worn the exact opposite of what’s appropriate (snort).

I’m such an enormous fan of texture. I love it to be on pretty much anything.. in art and photography, design and decorating… when I was thinking that, I realized I do not place enough texture in my outfits. So now my goal for pairings this year, is to really consider textures when putting together an outfit…  mix my patterns, shapes and colors for more interest to the eye.

I grew up thinking we wear clothes to keep our bodies warm, so I feel like I am coming at this from a strategic angle… but I know I’ll figure it all out some day. Ok, not really… but I’ll have fun along the way.

I am in-love with the mystique and elegance of Cecilia Parades’ work! It’s very vintage-meets-graphic design… and the two definitely make a happy a happy couple. She uses body paint and makeup to create the effect… saying her work is “about longing.”, which I also find very beautiful.
